The "Omali vida Nón" project participated in the IV Lusophone International Congress of Environmental Education. Our presentation emphasised that marine conservation and subsistence of coastal communities are interlinked, highlighting the activities that have been done with fish traders and fishers to jointly improve the management of the island's marine resources. Our presentation can be found here.
There was a wide range of topics covered in this congress, including tourism, conservation of marine ecosystems as well as terrestrial. This event offered the participants the opportunity to learn about various environmental education initiatives in Portuguese speaking communities which aim at, among other objectives, the political role of environmental education. It was a very enriching experience!
